The Whiskey Rebellion 1791-1794

1. An idea proposed by Alexander Hamilton

2. Congress was still struggling with debt, so they decided to tax whiskey

2.1. People refused to pay this tax, and rebelled

2.1.1. Washington sought to end the rebellion peacefully

2.1.2. Rebels became violent in year 1794 and several events happened such as when a group burned down the revenue inspector's house

2.1.3. Milita had to end the rebellion

2.1.4. Tax eventually fixed in 1802
