1. Indirect speech
1.1. Telling someone whta another person said, we often use reporting verbs like: “say” “tell” “ask” and “that”. Daniel said that he liked chocolate ice cream.
1.1.1. Focuses more on the content of what someone said rather than their exact words.
1.1.1.1. The structure of the reported clause, depends on wheter the speaker is reporting a statement, a question or command
1.1.1.1.1. Modal verbs change in indirect speech.

1.1.2. I told her (that) I was tired.
2. Direct speech
2.1. Repeats or quotes that exressed or the words spoken. "I like chocolate ice cream", said daniel.
2.1.1. Put a comma between the reporting clause and the reported clause.
2.1.1.1. Modal verbs don’t change.
2.1.1.2. Can, may, must
2.1.2. “I couldn’t sleep last night,” She said.
