1.1. Definition: Process of gathering evidence of student learning through providing feedback to students and teachers.

1.2. EX: Quizzes, discussions, games, etc.

2. Interim/Benchmarks

2.1. Definition: Assessments used to determine where students learning are at in their learning.

2.2. EX: STAAR: State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness. Tests students knowledge each grade level. MAP: Computerized exam to show students knowledge in reading and math.

3.1. Definition: high quality assessment that tests students over a large quantity of material.

3.2. EX: Final exams, research projects, standardized tests

4. Performance

4.1. Definition: Assessments that have students complete a task to check for content learned instead of multiple choice or short answer exams.

4.2. EX: Debates, Exhibits, presentations, drawing maps of learning.

5.1. Definition: Assessment used before teaching the unit to see students strengths and weaknesses, along with common misconceptions.

5.2. EX: Kahoot games, pre-tests, KWL charts, running records, journaling.
