RECORDING / RELEASING EP
por Barnaby Smith
1. Time Scheduele
1.1. I will spend 4 weeks recording and tweaking the tracks until I'm satisfied with the content.
1.2. After this process I will spend a further 4 weeks mixing and mastering the tracks until the final product is professionally audible whilst still retaining a natural Lo-Fi sound.
2. Equipment
2.1. I will use Cubase 9.5 as my software of choice to record the EP as I am familiar with it.
2.2. I will use my Fender Stratocaster Floyd Rose guitar to record the tracks due to its clean and natural sound.
2.3. I will utilise multiple plugins to gain a range of effects including, 'Rotating Jazz', 'Acoustic Shimmer' and '94 Rock Solo'
3. Research
3.1. I will conduct research on the process of recording and releasing an EP through the use of articles, interviews and documentaries to give me a clear understanding of common problems I will encounter and how to overcome them.
4. Budgeting
4.1. Depending on the aggregator I choose to partner with I will need to put a side a dedicated budget to fund the publishing of music.
4.1.1. After further research comparing different aggregators, the average budget I will need to maintain is at least £50.
5. Publishing
5.1. I will need to use an aggregator to publish my EP on streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, etc
6. Feedback
6.1. I will need to publish a survey to gain feedback on the sound of my EP
6.1.1. I will do this by uploading the guide tracks of my 4 songs, giving the option for peers to tell me what they like and dislike about each track, allowing me to tweak the songs as I go along.
6.1.1.1. This will not only give me an outside perspective but also allow me to gain a rough understanding on which songs will be more commercially successful.
