1. Emotional
1.1. Teen learns to use criticism to deal with emotional issues by watching their parent (Verial. 2017).
1.2. According to Verial (2017), adolescents may have a feeling of distraught as their family falls apart.
1.3. According to Dolgin (2018), short term emotional reactions do not tend to last very long. (p.239)
2. Cognitive
2.1. According to Verial (2017), grades can suffer when an adolescent is experiencing a divorce, because of emotional stress.
2.2. An adolescent may go through an identity crisis when they go through a divorce (Dolgin, 2018, pg. 27-38).
3. Social
3.1. Verial (2017) states that adolescents from divorce families are more likely to "drop out of school, commit crime, and engage in sex earlier" (para. 4).
3.2. Behavior wise a divorce tends to affect boys more than girls (Dolgin, 2018).
3.3. According to Dolgin (2018), adolescents who are in joint custody tend to have better out comes. (p. 246).
