2. Media Ecology

2.1. study of media as an environment

3. Philosophy of Teachnology

3.1. Very personal to each individual teacher

3.2. Showcase written statements of their own teaching style

3.3. Shows how best to use technology in a classroom

3.4. Technology is not only a classroom tool, but a professional one (think e-portfolio as an application)

3.5. In written statements, teachers can give examples of their classroom tools and activities that are enhanced using technology

4. Connectivism

4.1. being able to make connections through networks

4.2. knowing where to find more information is more important the the information itself

4.3. current and up to date information is the purpose

4.4. the process of connecting nodes and information sources

4.5. ability to make connections between other ideas, fields and concepts

4.6. teacher is providing activities for students to make specific connections about learning and knowledge

5. Constructivist

5.1. theory based on the learner

5.2. teacher is a facilitator, there to help

5.3. students become active engaged through activities or lessons

5.4. personal experience helps the learner to access more information

5.5. connected to behaviourism in the sense that environment/actively engaging activities play a part in the learning

6. Cognitive load

6.1. 2 types of memory: working memory and long term memory

6.2. long term memory is unlimited and we store our long term knowledge here, also used to assist working memory

6.3. working memory is thinking and awareness, when new information comes in

6.4. if too much information is coming into the working memory at once, there is an overload

6.5. teachers can present information, but not too much at once or it leads to overload

6.6. 3 types of load: extraneous, intrinsic and germane

7. TPACK

7.1. Showcases itself in the form of a Venn Diagram, with intersecting lines for all the sections

7.2. Main 3 knowledge ideas: Content, Pedagogy, and Technology

7.3. TPACK is where the knowledge combines/intersects and therefore teachers have a better understanding for how to convey information. Ex: Using pedagogy to convey content

7.4. Technology plays a relevant role depending on how you use pedagogy, aka if you're the type of teacher who likes using computer related notes/style.

7.5. The circles get bigger as the years go on, as in your knowledge expands in the subjects area as you teach more.
