3.1. The catch was broken.

3.2. Mrs P wrote a sign but she was out of paint.

3.3. The neighbours were horrified by Mrs P's scary cat and they kept away from her.

4. Resolution

4.1. Mrs P found that her neighbours misunderstood her sign.

4.2. Mrs P invited her new neighbours to her house and informed them the cat was away.

4.3. When Mrs P wanted companions, she would put out the 'The Cat is Away' sign.

4.4. When Mrs P wanted to be alone, she would put out the sign 'Beware of the Cat'.
