3. Factors Affecting Students' Speaking Skills

3.1. 1. clustering, redundancy, reduced forms, performance variables, colloquial language, rate of delivery, stress, rhythm, intonation and interaction (Hidayati, 2019) 2. Lack of opportunities, motivation, confidence, exposure, and fear of commiting mistakes (Phuntsho & Dorji, 2023)

3.2. 3. Schwarz (2015) says that psychological factors such as fear of mistakes, anxiety, shyness, lack of confidence, and lack of motivation are the factors that have been hindrance to students’ speaking skill. The exchange of the view above clearly proves that psychology plays a vital role in placing the students’ speaking skill in a difficult state.

3.3. 4. Students’ motivation is the second most powerful factor in determining their speaking skills; so, if learners are highly motivated, their speaking talents will also be excellent. If learners lack motivation, their speaking abilities will be poor (Illyin et al., 2021).

3.4. 5. constraints involved in speaking ESL are shyness, low interest in a second language, and the liberty of using the first language or mother tongue (Tuan and Mai, 2015).

3.5. 6. Lai and Seyedeh (2017) states that a friendly and cooperative environment will help pupils to defeat their problems in oral performance.

3.6. 7. Teacher can motivate the pupils by using the authentic activities and materials which will prompt the motivation for the low proficiency of pupils to speak in the classroom (Rusreena, Melor & Harwati, 2018).
