2. Consequences:
2.1. **Emotional and Mental:** Bullying and cyberbullying can lead to anxiety, depression, low self esteem, and even suicidal thoughts in victims
2.2. **Disciplinary:** Bullies and cyberbullies could face school disciplinary measures like suspension or explusion, social media bans, or even legal consequences depending on how severe the case is
3. Prevention:
3.1. Educating students on digital citizenship and the consequences of cyberbullying and responsible onine behavior
3.2. Implor students and others to have open communication- especially in schools. Encourage them to feel comfortable and safe reporting to parents, teachers, and/or trusted adults
4. Lesson Ideas:
4.1. **Kind Vs. Hurtful Messages:** Give students different and easily understandable examples of 'kind' versus 'hurtful' messages. Have a class discussion of the importance of digital kindness
4.2. Begin the lesson with a short introductory video on the topic
5. Response
5.1. **Listen & Support:** When students confide in you it's important to acknowledge their feelings and take in the details the students give you on the situation while withholding any judgement.
5.2. **Take Action:** Report through the proper chains of command if cyberbullying is being reported in a professional setting. Encourage the student to document the offenses and help them report it.
