1. Opposition to the new Government.

1.1. European monarchs feared that the revolution would spread to their own countries.

1.2. France was Invaded by Austrian and Prussian troops

1.3. Thousands of nobles were executed under the suspicion that they were conspirating with other countries.

2.1. He had gone to military school at the age of ten. This gave him the skills and knowledge of how to command an army.

3. People of Paris storming the Bastille July 14,1789

3.1. People of Paris stormed the Bastille in rage proving them to be a force that should be taken seriously. Their first action in the revolution.

3.2. By doing this, they acquired weaponry and gunpowder.

4. Uprising spread throughout Paris

4.1. The people of France started to rebel throughout the whole country, people were getting attacked, records of taxes owing were being destroyed. Chaos spread through the nation.

5. The Tennis Court Oath June 20, 1789

5.1. After being locked out of their regular meeting hall, the third estate and few from the other estates swore they would never separate until a constitution was granted.

5.2. By doing this, they created the Tennis Court Oath.

6. Abolishment of the monarchy.

6.1. The people of France leading the revolution knew that with the king still be alive, there is a possibility of them regaining power.

6.2. To eliminate this fear, they put the king on trial for treason and later executed him on Jan 21, 1793.

6.3. For the rest of the royal family, Marie Antoinette was executed on Oct 16, 1793. Their daughter was allowed to go to Vienna in 1795 knowing she could never become queen, but their son was sent to prison where he was mistreated and abused until his death in 1793.

7. Declaration of the Rights of Man August 1789

7.1. In the month of august, 1789, the Declaration of the Rights of man was created to bring equality among the people.

7.2. Many new rights came such as the freedom of speech, freedom of religion,freedom of press, the right to have a fair trial, and the right for people to create laws.

7.3. The Declaration of the Rights of women was created soon after to see womanas equals. They didnt get as many Rights as men though.

8. Many changes under the National Assembly were made.

8.1. During the revolution, the people of France had made several changes. These included the abolishment of the privileges for the first two estates, the constitution of 1791, reforms in local government, taxes being payed based on ability to pay, and the Declaration of the Right of Man was created.

9. Reign of Terror. September 1793- July 1794.

9.1. The committee of Public Safety rose under the control of Maximillian Robespierre and the Jacobins.

9.2. Anyone found opposing to the revolution were found guilty for treason and sentenced to death of the guillotine which came to be known as the national razor.

10. The Relocation of the Royal Couple.

10.1. On October 5, 1789 a group of women attacked Versailles wanting Marie Antoinette.

10.2. The royal couple was then relocated to the Tuileries Palace in Paris where they lived as prisoners.

10.3. The action of them doing this asserted their dominance over the king showing that they are the ones in charge, not him.

11. The elimination of the church.

11.1. All power of the church was diminished, church lands were seized and sold.

11.2. Civil Constitution of the clergy required that church officials be elected by the people with salaries paid by the government.
