Blog - three qualities together - prayer, thanksgiving, and joypor Anthony Huy
1. In 1 Thess 5: 16-18, in a series of staccato imperatives that belong together as a package, Paul urged the Thessalonians to "rejoice continually, pray unceas-ingly, and give thanks in all circumstances," for these constitute one dimension of God's will for his people. Paul is as good as his word. Not only does this combination appear elsewhere in 1 Thessalonians (3: 9-10), but now in a Roman prison , with possible trouble brewing on the Philippian horizon, Paul again gives evidence that prayer, thanksgiving, and joy go together in a kind of indissoluble union.
