Carrie -Case Study. por Mind Map: Carrie -Case Study.

1. Because Carrie was released by Sony, a well established and well known distributor, they took care of a lot of public events such as, YouTube channels and trailers, interviews on telly with the main actors, the film even has its own online game!

2. Carrie was distributed by Sony Pictures on October 18th 2013.

3. Carrie has pretty famous actresses in it and the film itself appealed to a mass audience. For this reason it was shown in almost every cinema in the UK, so the film had a mass appeal and a mass exhibition.

4. Carrie was shown in cinemas for around a month and was then released on a DVD platform on the 14th of January 2014.

5. Carrie was released on DVD just after Christmas. Because so many films come out just before Christmas and Christmas costs so much money, January-March are normally classed as 'The Dead Period' because less people to go to the cinema, distributors don't tend to release films.

6. Sony evidently knew this and so they released Carrie in the cinema, BEFORE Christmas and they released the DVD AFTER Christmas, because its target audience may have gotten money for Christmas that they wanted to spend on things such as DVDs that looked good. Clever Sony!
