1. Authenticity

1.1. How to evaluate a site: http://www.lib.vt.edu/instruct/evaluate/

1.2. When looking at the sites provided to evaluate their authenticity, I clicked another video on youtube. It was Opera - which would make the average person believe it is definitely real - but instead of just looking at the headline, I read the description below and it explained that the "man who gave birth to a baby" was born a woman. Students must understand the need to dig a little further to prove a source right vs. wrong.

4.1.4. Conclusion:

4.1.4.1. Teachers take place of a parent when students are in their classroom, which is 5 days a week for most of their year. By leading by example, teachers must demonstrate proper internet use. They must also start a conversation with students about the risks of using the internet, and answering their questions. It is better for students to ask questions about topics they might be embarrassed about to someone they trust as opposed to the internet. By using these resources, I as a teacher can find strategies and solutions to making my classroom a comfortable environment where students are able to see how awesome technology can be, but also how dangerous.
