Inheritance of Traits Graphic
by Bryson Parrish
1. Genes:
1.1. All humans have the same genes arranged in the same order. And more than 99.9% of our DNA sequence is the same.
2. Alleles:
2.1. This is important because alleles can be dominant, recessive, or co dominant to each other.
3. Inheritance of Traits Through Asexual vs Sexual Reproduction:
3.1. Asexual reproduction generates offspring that are genetically identical to a single parent. In sexual reproduction, two parents contribute genetic information to produce unique offspring.
4. DNA
4.1. DNA is vital for all living beings – even plants. It is important for inheritance, coding for proteins and the genetic instruction guide for life and its processes.
5. Chromosomes:
5.1. To put it simply, chromosomes are important because they contain the entire (or at least the vast majority of) genetic information for an organism.
