What is renewable energy? by Mind Map: What is renewable energy?

1. The renewable energy is the fastest growing source of energy in the world

1.1. In specific the wind

2. Wind energy

2.1. The wind is used to generate mechanical power or electricity. Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power.

3. Solar energy

3.1. Is obtained from the use of electromagnetic radiation from the Sun.

4. Biomass energy

4.1. Biomass is organic material that comes from plants and animals

4.2. Wood and garbage, can be burned directly to produce heat.

4.3. Biomass can also be converted into a gas called biogas or into liquid biofuels such as ethanol and biodiesel. These fuels can then be burned for energy.

5. There's plenty of it. It's not going to go away. There's no way we can use it all up.

6. Benefits

6.1. It´s the key to combating climate change

6.1.1. It creates no direct greenhouse gas emissions, can decrease prodution

6.1.1.1. They cost little to operate and it's very cheap

7. It´s generate by natural resources

7.1. These resources naturally replenish themselves

8. Greenhouse effect

8.1. This gas increases the temperature of the Earth by trapping heat in our atmosphere.

8.2. This keeps the temperature of the Earth higher than it would be if direct heating by the Sun was the only source of warming.

9. Downsides

9.1. it generates the energy at a slower power

9.1.1. Only energy is generated when there is wind or sun, it can be intermittent. It is not effective everytime
