3.1. Pearl Sydenstricker Buck (1892 – 1973) was an American writer and novelist. She had a Chinese name – Sai Zhenzhu as she spent her childhood in China, being the daughter of missionaries.
3.2. She was awarded the Pulitzer prize in 1932 and the Nobel Prize in Literature in the year 1938.
