1. RISING ACTION

1.1. An American soldier got ashore near Sadao’s house. He was shot, wounded and was dying.

1.2. Though unwilling to help his enemy, Sadao took the young soldier into his house and provided him with medical aid. He was in danger from that moment.

2. FALLING ACTION

2.1. Sadao becomes a true human being who realizes the essential worth of human life and universal brotherhood.

3.1. Pearl Sydenstricker Buck (1892 – 1973) was an American writer and novelist. She had a Chinese name – Sai Zhenzhu as she spent her childhood in China, being the daughter of missionaries.

3.2. She was awarded the Pulitzer prize in 1932 and the Nobel Prize in Literature in the year 1938.
