1.2.1. Can be expensive for the provider to set up and maintain.
1.2.2. TeleMedicine can be too expensive for small healthcare facilities.
1.2.3. If you prefer a more personal or face-to-face relationship, telemedicine may not be an option for you.
1.2.4. Some types of illnesses or problems have to be solved face to face, not through TeleMedicine.
2. Who invented TeleMedicine?
2.1. The history of the telemedicine idea is based on the invention of the means of communication. An 1879 Lancet article stated that the use of the phone could reduce unnecessary office visits8. Almost 100 years ago, in 1922, the US inventor named Hugo Gernsback explained the idea of the device called "teledactyl". The teledactyl would allow doctors to see patients far from a screen and treat them with robotic arms.
2.2. The first application that could be called telemedicine emerged in the 1950s when some hospitals in the USA started to share information and images over telephone lines. The first notable success in this area came when two hospitals in Pennsylvania managed to share X-ray images over telephone lines -Toygu/Zile Fen Lisesi/Turkey.
