Plant Cell da Mind Map: Plant Cell

1. Smooth ER

1.1. tube has NO ribosomes on the membrane

2. Rough ER

2.1. tube has ribosomes on the membrane

2.1.1. an organelle that produces and transports materials and compounds (like lipids and proteins) throughout the cell.

2.1.2. Endoplasmic Reticulum

3. Cell Membrane

3.1. Thin outer covering that keeps the cell shape and acts like a boundary regulating what materials enter and exit the cell.

4. Ribosomes

4.1. This organelle is the site where protein is made. It can be found floating in the cytoplasm or attached to the rough Endoplasmic Reticulum.

5. Nucleolus

5.1. Found inside the nucleus, this organelle produces ribosomes.

6. Chloroplasts

6.1. an organelle that contains the pigment chlorophyll in green plants and is the site of photosynthesis.

7. Cell Wall

7.1. Thick outer covering outside the cell membrane providing extra support and protection

8. Cytoskeleton

8.1. a framework of tubules providing movement, structure and support for the organelles and cell

9. Cytoplasm

9.1. liquid gel-like substance found throughout the cell that which holds the cells shape and the organelles. Reactions can take place within this substance.

10. Chromosomes

10.1. organized form of DNA, which is the cells blueprint for making proteins

11. Nucleus

11.1. Only found in Eukaryotic Cells and houses the cell's genetic material - DNA.

12. Golgi Apparatus

12.1. modifies, processes, and packages cell products (like proteins) and puts them into vesicles to be transported within the cell or carried out of the cell.

13. Mitochondria

13.1. called the “powerhouse” of the cell because it releases energy from food through a process called cellular respiration.

14. Vacuole

14.1. they carry and store a variety of materials such as food, water, and waste. In plant cells, there is one large central vacuole that takes up most of the inside

15. Red - Genetic Replication/Processing

16. Blue - Creation, Distribution, and Decomposition of Cellular Molecules

17. Green - Energy Processing

18. Orange - Cell Structure
