2. What do you think technology is now?

2.1. “We define technology as the organization of knowledge for the achievement of practical purposes” (as cited in Thierer, 2014, para 31).

2.1.1. "Technology includes all tools, machines, utensils, weapons, instruments, housing, clothing, communicating and transporting devices and the skills by which we produce and use them” (as cited in Thierer, 2014, para. 12).

2.1.1.1. According to Dyer (2009)., "we as a society use technology [daily]. Our rules for driving are a kind of social technology imposed on top of the hardware of the car. The simultaneous actions of 45 people forming an orchestra are also a kind of technology that binds together instruments, people, and music. The way that you are reading this blog post (on a website, in a feed reader, etc.) and the idea that you might comment and I might reply are all social processes built on top of and intimately connected to the hardware, the underlying manufacturing, and even the technological knowledge of blogging" (para. 5).

2.1.2. "Human’s use of technology involves not only machines (e.g., computer hardware) and instruments... Technology is more than a collection of machines and devices. To go beyond simplistic intuitions about technology requires investigation of the human mind and socio-cultural environment as well as interactions with technological artifacts" (Isman, 2012, p. 208)

5. How have your ideas changed?

5.1. "Technology has two primary components: 1) a physical component which comprises of items such as products, tooling, equipment, blueprints, techniques, and processes; and 2) the informational component which consists of know-how in management, marketing, production, quality control, reliability, skilled labor, and functional areas" (Kumar et al., 1999, p. 2).

5.2. I have gained new knowledge and now think more abstractly about technology. Realizing that the effectiveness of technology and its capabilities are multifaceted and complex. Furthermore, without the synergy of the physical and informational components technology would cease to exist.

6. Why do we need new technologies?

6.1. Technology is involved in everything we know and do.

6.1.1. It is responsible for medical advances

6.1.2. It allows us to live life as we are use to

6.1.3. It drives evolution

6.1.4. Creates a better future

6.1.5. (SMARTEduEMEA, 2011). The history of technology in education.

7. Conclusion

7.1. Technology is complicated to explain using one single definition as none fully encompass the importance or vastness that could be considered technology. Furthermore, the ever-changing nature and discoveries make defining technology even more difficult.

7.1.1. To examine technology better, human must not limit their thoughts to devices or physical objects only.

7.1.1.1. Understanding that technology is everywhere and betters our lives is a simple but effective statement.
