2.1. Luke 2:8 (NLT) 8 That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep.
2.1.1. Scholars tell us that shepherds were often sees
2.1.2. Jesus came for the outcasts
2.1.3. God is often looking at the outcast just like David was a shepherd and the least in his family with the lowliest job
2.2. Luke 2:9 (NLT) 9 Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified,
2.2.1. This was a big deal!
2.2.1.1. Exodus 16:7 (NLT) 7 In the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, because he has heard your complaints, which are against him, not against us. What have we done that you should complain about us?”
2.2.1.2. Exodus 24:17 (NLT) 17 To the Israelites at the foot of the mountain, the glory of the LORD appeared at the summit like a consuming fire.
2.2.1.3. Psalm 63:2 (NLT) 2 I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory.

2.2.2. The angles had been busy
2.2.2.1. The angle appeared to Zachariah
2.2.2.1.1. Luke 1:13 (NLT) 13 But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give you a son, and you are to name him John.
2.2.2.2. The angle appeared to Mary
2.2.2.2.1. Luke 1:30 (NLT) 30 “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God!
2.2.2.3. The Angle appeared to Joseph
2.2.2.3.1. Matthew 1:20 (NLT) 20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.
2.3. Luke 2:10 (NLT) 10 but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.
2.3.1. Every time "Don't be afraid" Angles are scary!
2.3.2. Fear is the correct first response to God's glory.
2.3.2.1. Proverbs 9:10 (NIV) 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
2.3.3. It is not the End
