
1. divergent thinking is not the same as creativity
1.1. creativity: having original ideas that have value
1.2. divergent thinking: capacity for creativity, the posiblity to see a lot of answers, to interpret a question, to think laterally not just linear
1.2.1. example of paperclip: how can you use it? Test with children (from kindergarten to high school)

1.2.2. we all have this capacity and loose it growing up and being educated
1.2.2.1. education: don't look don't copy
1.2.2.2. real world: collaboration
2. education is modeled on the interest of industrialisation and the image of it
2.1. structure of school has not changed works like a factory
2.1.1. everybody has to do the same at the same age, at the same time
2.1.1.1. is their age the only thing they have in common?
2.1.1.1.1. again: problem of standardisation
2.1.1.2. children have different talents they work differently (group, alone) they have mor energy at different times
2.1.1.2.1. They are all unique
3. Arts as victim
3.1. aesthetic experience: senses are operating at their peak (heart and brain work together ->fully alive)
3.2. anaesthetic experience: you shut your senses off (medication)
3.2.1. we should wake them up to what is inside of them
4. every country is reforming public education
4.1. 2 reasons
4.1.1. how do we educate so children can take their place in our economy, without knowing, how the economy will look like
4.1.2. cultural identity: how do we pass on our cultural genes, while being part of globalization
5. we are still held in our past with our education
5.1. children don't see any purpose in going to school (alienating)
5.2. work hard - do well - college - job
5.2.1. nowadays children don't believe that because there is no guarantee and they loose themselves and what is important to them in the process
5.2.1.1. Standartisation as problem?
5.3. designed and conceived for a different age
5.3.1. intellectual culture of the enlightenment and industrial revolution before there was no public education, unless jesuits
5.3.1.1. that the school system should be paid by taxes was a revolutionary idea, and many objected to it.
5.3.1.1.1. economic imperative: two kind of people: academic people (smart) and non academic people (not smart) biggest problem!! causes chaos, because some benefit from this system but most have not.
6. modern "epidemic": ADHD
6.1. open discussion: is there such a thing or not?
6.1.1. children are being medicated, to focus on "boring" stuff in school
6.1.1.1. the more standardization the more ADHD - is there a correlation?
