1.2.1.1.1. When Odysseus and his crew arrive at Polyphemus's cave, he starts to ask them questions. One of Polyphemus's question was, if Odysseus arrived on a ship to his island where was the shipped docked. Polyphemus knew that he could destroy the ship, so Odysseus could never leave the island and be reunited with his family.

1.2.1.2.1. Polyphemus walks out of his cave and picks up a giant boulder and puts it right in front of the entrance of the cave. Odysseus and his crew have no way to escape now.

1.3.1.1.1. He knew that his crew should not kill Polyphemus right away, because they would have been trapped in the cave with no way to get out, because of the giant boulder blocking the way out.

1.3.1.2.1. Odysseus did what ever it took to escape Polyphemus's lair. He carved a sharp point into a tree and was able to blind Polyphemus in his only eye.

2.2.1.1.1. Big Dan T is at the KKK ceremony where Tommy was going to be hung. He recognizes Ulysses, Pete, and Delmar are in disguise. He pulls of their hoods to reveal that they were not real members of the KKK.

2.2.1.2.1. Ulysses and Delmar brag about their money made by recording a song, which made Big Dan T mad. He went over to a tree and broke the branch off of it and hit Ulysses and Delmar with the tree branch.

2.3. Protagonist

2.3.1. Ulysses Everett Mcgill

2.3.1.1. Intelligence

2.3.1.1.1. Ulysses and his men run into people with white gowns singing "Down into the river to pray". While Delmar and Pete run into the water to have their sins washed away, Ulysses does not. He knew that would distract him achieving his quest.

2.3.1.2. Bravery

2.3.1.2.1. Ulysses refused to leave Tommy to be hung by the KKK. He disguised himself as one of the member of the KKK along with Delmar and Pete. They were able to save Tommy's life.
