1. Level 2
1.1. Level Description
1.1.1. The reading goals in level 2 start with capital and lower-case letter recognition, moving on to individual phonics sounds, vowel word families, and blending sounds to read CVC words. Level 2 speaking goals begin with the repetition of single words and very basic introductory dialogue, move on to the repetition of complete but simple sentences, answering in sentence fragments, and answering in complete sentences. In level 2, students are required to actively respond to the one-step directions like “Sit down!” “Repeat!” or “Circle it!” If the student cannot read, but is a confident speaker, they still belong in level 2. The aim of level 2 is to teach students reading basics.
