1. Honesty
1.1. Sam is a 74-year-old man who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. His treatment has failed to work and is being told the results by FY2 doctor Jane.
1.1.1. As usual Patients have the right to ask questions. Sam asks doctor Jane how long she expects that he will be able to survive. What does Jane do? Does she ....
1.1.1.1. Tell him a lie?
1.1.1.1.1. For instance, if Jane told Sam that he was going to live longer than was actually true then although he may be happy, it will lead to severe consequences.
1.1.1.2. Or tell him the truth?
1.1.1.2.1. Jane must tell Sam the truth even though the news is negative.
2. Dealing with uncertainty
2.1. Andrew is a surgeon. He has recently graduated as a cardiovascular surgeon. He is about to operate a patient that has suffered a cardiac arrest.
2.1.1. Andrew knows that there are many uncertainties related to this procedure such as the patient may feel uncomfortable with the procedure, the patient may react to the anaesthetic, they may not wake up from the anaesthetic etc
2.1.1.1. But Andrew knows that the best thing that will help the patient is completing this operation and so he must put all the uncertainties behind him and complete the procedure.

3. Insight to own mental health
3.1. Adam has been working 12 hour shifts, everyday for the past two weeks. His fellow colleagues have noticed that he has been quite quiet and has black circles under his eyes.
3.1.1. His colleague Anna asks him if he is ok but he replies in a tone that makes her doubt him.
3.1.1.1. After a long time, Adam seems to come out with the reason that he has been struggling to sleep at night and has been seeing things that haunt him.

4. Empathy
4.1. Kyle has been suffering ever since his wife passed away from breast cancer.
4.1.1. He has been having sleepless nights, really bad headaches and has experienced several phases of depression.
4.1.1.1. He has come to his GP to get his blood pressure measured and so that she may refer him to hospital if required.
