2. The coding process

2.1. Only when you have imported your data into your NVivo project and you are satisfied they are definitive can you start coding. Don't code any documents that you think may need to be edited later. If you do, when it comes to updating your document, you may have to lose your coding.

2.2. Coding is at the heart of qualitative data analysis. Be prepared to do some reading around the subject.

3. Project Management

3.1. NVivo is a project manager. Bring all your data and all other relevant documents into your project

3.2. NVivo won't do the data analysis for you but offers powerful tools helping YOU to do the analysis.

4. Timing

4.1. Think about whether you'll use NVivo in your project early in your course. If you leave it to the last minute you put yourself under pressure and you won't be able to get the most out of the software.
