1. Kristallnacht

1.1. also known as the night of broken glass, Anti Semitic riots broke out.

1.2. 30,000 Jews rounded up and taken to concentration camps, as well as 300 businesses, homes and synagogues destroyed

1.3. After this, Jews could not own or drive cars or attend school. they were also fined 1 billion Marks for the damages done during the riots

2. the reason that all of these things were not fought against by the citizens of Germany was because of mass propaganda spread by the Nazi party. the head of this propaganda was Joseph Goebbels, who helped spread lies that showed Jews as deviants, greedy, rapists and many other terrible things. but simple propaganda isn't enough to make an entire country hate a whole race of people. the state that Germany was in after the loss of WWI and in it's still weakened state made it easy for people to band together as one common enemy, which was identified by Hitler as the Jews. the third reason people agreed with the Nazi party was because any person who attempted to help the Jews during this time was branded as a traitor themselves and arrested or sent to a concentration camp as well.

3. concentration camps

3.1. this is what most people see when they think of the Holocaust, this was the Nazis last step in their "final solution of the Jewish question"

3.2. thousands of Jews were sent to work camps to work as slaves.

3.3. thousands of the people in these camps starved to death or were killed in these concentration camps

3.4. many countries were unwilling to expel their Jewish citizens, however many countries fell to the power of Germany and ended up letting them go anyways

4. The Nuremberg Laws

4.1. Allowed for legal discrimination and terrorism against Jews.

4.2. Jews lost their ability to vote

4.3. Jews were unable to hold positions in public office, and practice law, medicine or teaching

4.4. Jews had to wear a yellow star of David so they could be publicly recognized

5. Ghettoes

5.1. sections of cities were walled off and filled with Jews because the Nazis wanted more living space or "lebensraum".

5.2. these sections were called ghettos, with many families occupying a single small apartment.

5.3. most of the property that Jews were evicted from was taken by the Nazis for their own gain.
