1. what is technology?
1.1. In simplest of terms, Technology is using knowledge to make stuff that helps us do things better, easier and more efficiently
1.2. Simplest of examples of Technology.
1.2.1. Papper Clip
1.2.1.1. A Paper clip is also a very simple yet prominent examle of technology being incorporated into daily life.
1.2.2. A Sharpner
1.2.2.1. It's an example of technology because it uses a mechanical mechanism to create a fine point on the pencil, making it more efficient for writing or drawing tasks.
1.2.3. A Wheel
1.2.3.1. the fact that we think of wheel as a simple round thing instead of something that can be counted under the tree of technology is completely insane. just because a thing is very common and does not involve any high tech expensivr stuff does not mean that it is not technology. a wheel is a perfect and a prominent example of technology in erly human years.
1.3. "technology has two primary components: 1) a physical component which comprises of items such as products, tooling, equipments, blueprints, techniques, and processes; and 2) the informational component which consists of know-how in management, marketing, production, quality control, reliability, skilled labor and functional areas." (Kumar, Kumar , & Persuad,1999)
1.3.1. this qoute is self explainatory in itself, however the intresting thing is that, how authors have out emphasis on the second point of considering technology as an information component in managment, quality control and skilled labor. which is something often overlooked when talked about technology.

3. what i think technology is now.
3.1. "Technology is anything useful invented by a mind" (Kevin Kelly, 2010)
3.1.1. This qoute is really somethimg unique that i have ever read about technology. because it expands the term technology to encompass a broad range of inventions that serve a practical function. which means it can include anything from a simple tools to complex systems.
3.2. “a bundle of information, rights and services” Sagafi-Nejad (1981)
3.2.1. this qoute in specific is quite term bending as it suggests tht technology is not solely about tangible devices but also encorporates intangible elements like information, rights, and services. It underscores the multifaceted nature of technology.
3.3. in my sense the defination of technology has changed drastically, as now i believe that the term technology is like a giant tree which consists of multiple branches ranging from small to big, anything that assist us in our daily rountine and can make life simpler can be categorized as technology. for example it can be a small sharpner to big turbines and motors.
4. what i thought technology was.
4.1. Initially I thougth that the world of technology consisted only the Physical man made high tech stuff charaterized by sophisticated machines, digital tools and complex algorithms and often reserved for those with expertise.
4.2. Communication Technology
4.2.1. Internet
4.2.1.1. algoritms
4.2.1.1.1. algorithms are widely used on internet, search engines and across varies apps and platforms, for me algorithms was definately something to be considered as technology
4.2.1.2. search engines
4.2.2. Social Media
4.2.2.1. Facebook
4.2.2.2. threads
4.2.2.3. social media is a veru prominent example to be used as because nowadays people are highly engaged in various social media apps and platfroms to look up and express themselves, it comes under the branch of Communication technology
4.2.2.4. Instagram
4.2.3. Messaging App
4.2.3.1. whatsApp
4.2.3.2. skype
4.2.3.3. telegram
4.2.3.4. signal
4.3. Hardware.
4.3.1. Computers
4.3.2. Mobile Devices
4.3.3. Robots
4.3.4. Satellites
5. why we need technology
5.1. how my idea of technology changed.
5.1.1. (Greenlish, 2013) "The best way to predict the future is to invent it." (as cited in Kay, A. (n.d.)
5.1.1.1. it prompts us to advance collectively as a society.
5.1.2. Making Things Easier: Technology helps us do things with less effort, like using a tool to chop vegetables instead of doing it by hand.
5.1.3. Technology, the application of scientific knowledge to the practical aims of human life or, as it is sometimes phrased, to the change and manipulation of the human environment. (Britannica, T. Editors of Encyclopaedia (2024, April 22). technology. Encyclopedia Britannica.)
5.1.3.1. this quote explains the main purpose of technology in whole. simplyfying it, the ultimate purpose of thecnology is to improve and enhance human life and adapt tp our ever changing enviornment.
5.1.4. i was previously completely unaware of this vast defination of technology, but upon taking this course and making this mind map and doing the research for it, has completely blown me away and changed the defination of technology for me.
