1.2. No longer were blacks denied the right to vote, to eat, shop, and swim where they pleased, and more importantly, to attend integrated schools

2. Well Known Figures For Civil Rights

2.1. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

2.1.1. King received the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolence.

2.1.2. Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American pastor, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement.

2.1.3. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience based on his Christian beliefs.

2.2. Malcolm X

2.3. Intelligent and articulate, Malcolm was appointed as a minister and national spokesman for the Nation of Islam.

2.4. In the immediate aftermath of Malcolm X's death, commentators largely ignored his recent spiritual and political transformation and criticized him as a violent rabble-rouser.

2.5. On the evening of February 21, 1965, at the Audubon Ballroom in Manhattan, where Malcolm X was about to deliver a speech, three gunmen rushed the stage and shot him 15 times at point blank range.

2.6. Rosa Parks

2.7. On December 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Parks refused to obey bus driver James F. Blake's order that she give up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled. Parks was not the first person to resist bus segregation.

2.8. Parks' act of defiance and the Montgomery Bus Boycott became important symbols of the modern Civil Rights Movement.

2.9. Parks was secretary of the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP.

3. History Of The Civil Rights

3.1. "I Have A Dream Speech 1964"

3.1.1. With over 250000 people in attendance Dr. King delivered a life changing speech.

3.1.2. Whites and Blacks where all there to listen to him speak about being one big family.

3.1.3. People from all over the world came. Some all rode on a bus, or car pool to here this powerful man speak.

3.2. "Rosa Parks Does Not Get up 1955"

3.2.1. Rosa Parks believed that you can sit anywhere on the bus.

3.2.2. Ms. Parks was apart of the NAACP group that was trying to give blacks equal rights.

3.2.3. Ms. Parks also was one of the first blacks to not give her set up to a white person.

3.3. "Montgomery Bus Boycott 1955-1956"

3.3.1. The boycott started when they put Rosa Parks in jail for not giving up her seat to a white woman.

3.3.2. The boycott made the bus station loose a lot of money.

3.3.3. The boycott lasted over a year, but they finally broke down and let blacks sit in the front.
