1. A BCPHN is a unique lifetime identifier for every client.

1.1. BCPHN's are issued to everyone born in BC.

1.1.1. 98% of BC residents have a healthcare record attached to a BCPH in the EMPI.

1.2. BCPHN's are issued to any new client using the healthcare system for the first time. Examples include:

1.5. Pharmasave

1.6. An MRN is a unique identifier for each client within a system or facility and it helps manage their medical history.

1.7. PHC (St. Paul's Hospital)

1.8. VCH (Lions gate Hospital)

1.9. FHA (Royal Columbian Hospital)

1.10. A Visit number is issued to clients every time they come to a facility for treatment. These numbers are recorded under the MRN.
