3. Types of writing

3.1. 1) Romanticism was a artistic, literary, and intellectual movement that originated in Europe toward the end of the 18th century

3.2. 2) Realism was an artistic movement that began in France in the 1850's, after the 1848 revolution

3.3. 3) Naturalism was a mainly unorganized literary movement that sought to depict believable everyday reality, as opposed to such movements as Romanticism or Surrealism, in which subjects may receive highly symbolic, idealistic or even supernatural treatment

3.4. 4) Local color or regional literature is fiction and poetry that focuses on the characters, dialect, customs, topography, and other features particular to a specific region

4. Litrature

4.1. 1 ) the types of genres were Nonfiction, fiction, journalism

4.2. 2) some of the issues at the time was slavery and different economies such as industrial vs agriculture which affected the literature as well

4.3. 3) one of the major themes during the civil war was War because that's what mostly was going on at the time.

4.4. 4) the spirituals were sung , not written down, they were the form of literature that grew directly out of the major social and political issue of the time
