Frequency Adverbs

1. Explanation
1.1. We use these adverbs to describe how often we do an activity.
2. Examples
2.1. I always go to bed before 11pm I usually have cereal for breakfast I normally go to the gym I often surf the internet I sometimes forget my wife's birthday I occasionally eat junk food I seldom read the newspaper I hardly ever drink alcohol I never swim in the sea.
3. Grammar
3.1. With verb To Be, the frequency adverb goes after of this verb. Subject + to be + adverb
3.1.1. They are never pleased to see me.
3.1.2. She isn't usually bad tempered.
3.2. An frequency adverb goes before a main verb, except with To Be. Subject + adverb + main verb
3.2.1. I always remember to do my homework.
3.2.2. He normally gets good marks in exams.
3.3. When an auxiliary verb is used, the adverb is placed between the auxiliary and the main verb. This is also true for the verb to be. Subject + auxiliary + adverb + main verb
3.3.1. She can sometimes beat me in a race.
3.3.2. I would hardly ever be unkind to someone.
3.3.3. They might never see each other again.
3.3.4. They could occasionally be heard laughing.
