Business Activity Model - (the BAM angel Diagram)

The Business Activity Model (BAM) is a business analysis tool that is able to provide a conceptual model of what we would expect to see to fulfil a particular business stakeholder's perspective. A BAM shows what the organisation SHOULD be doing, as opposed to how it is done, or how it is currently being done

1. C. Planning Activities

2. A. Doing Activity

3. B. Enabling Activities

4. D. Monitoring Activities

5. E. Control Activities

6. In order to complete the 'doing' and 'enabling' activities, planning activities must be considered beforehand. These types of activities include 'define number of staff' or 'define product range'.

7. These activities are at the heart of the model. This is your role's focus. There should only ever be one doing activity in each BAM, for example, sell product or provide service.

8. These activities ensure that the resources and facilities needed for the 'doing' activities are available, for example, recruiting staff, ordering training materials, developing training courses or ordering products.

9. These are the activities that will be setting performance expectations, for example, 'monitor data analytics', 'monitor employee performance' or 'monitor customer service feedback'.

10. These activities come last and are based on the monitoring activity outcomes. If the monitoring activities reveal that performance is not what was expected, then the control activities may be required to institute the necessary actions.
