Types and Components of Computer Systems

1. Outputs: Monitors (CRT, TFT), printers (laser, ink jet and dot matrix), plotters, speakers, control devices

2. Backing Storage and Associated Devices: --Floppy Disk Drive, is a computer disk drive that enables a user to save data to removable diskettes. -Hard Disk Drive, is the main, and usually largest, data storage hardware device in a computer.

4. Differences between LAN and WAN: LAN is a computer network that connects computers in small areas. WAN is a network that covers a broad area using private or public network transports.

6. What is Software: Is a collection of instructions that can be ‘run’ on a computer. These instructions tell the computer what to do. Also it includes websites, programs and video games.

7. Differences between Hardware and Software: -Computer hardware is the physical components that make up the computer system. -Software is instructions that tell computer hardware what to do.

8. Inputs: Keyboards, numeric keypads, pointing devices (including mouse, touch pad and tracker ball), remote controls, joysticks,etc...
