Echo and Narcissus

1. Narcissus

1.1. Narcissus rejected Echo and the other nymphs who fawned over him.

1.1.1. One of the nymphs prayed to Diana that Narcissus would one day know rejection.

1.2. Narcissus fell in love with his reflection in the water, and tried to kiss it.

1.2.1. The reflection was not real and thus he could not have it.

1.3. Narcissus pined away and died, upset that he couldn't have his reflection.

1.3.1. The nymphs mourned Narcissus and named the white Narcissus flower after him.

2. Echo

2.1. Echo loved to talk and distracted Juno from finding the nymphs with Jupiter.

2.1.1. Juno punished Echo by making her only able to reply to a statement with an echo.

2.2. Echo fell in love with Narcissus and threw herself at him.

2.2.1. Narcissus rejected Echo's advances, making Echo desperate.

2.3. Echo was depressed and withered away in a cave but still replied to anyone she could.

2.3.1. Her voice replying is the cause of echoes in caves.
