MY PHOTOGRAPH により Mind Map: MY PHOTOGRAPH

1. WHERE WAS THIS PHOTO TAKEN: This photo was taken in front of the border wall between the U.S. and Tijuana, Mexico.

1.1. MIGRATION JOURNEY:

1.1.1. DISTANCE: 4491 km travelled on foot TIME: around 912 hours

1.1.1.1. CLICK WHITE ARROW FOR PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY OF MIGRATION ROUTE

2. WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE PHOTO: Through research, I found that this is a photograph of a migrant woman and her daughters trying to escape tear gas set by American border agents.

2.1. WHAT WAS THE REASON OF MIGRATION OF THIS FAMILY? The woman and her kids, who are originally from Honduras, wanted to escape the poverty, violence and food scarcity of their home country. Honduras is one of the world's poorest, most vulnerable countries. According to World Bank's 2016 data, more than 66% of the population is living in poverty.

2.2. WAS THIS ACT A VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS STANDARDS? Based on research, it is a right of every country to have the ability to control who comes into their domain. But that doesn't mean that the United States had the power to fire tear gas to another country. In the United Nations Charter, it also mentions that "members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity of other members."

3. WHEN WAS THIS PHOTO TAKEN: November 25,2018
