1. Negative Form

3. Questions

4. Use

4.1. Action over a past period

4.1.1. Something that we were in the middle of

4.1.1.1. It was almost midnight and I was walking home

4.2. Compare the present continuous and past continuous

4.2.1. I am walking home

4.2.1.1. The person is in the middle of their journey

4.2.2. I was walking home

4.2.2.1. The person was in the middle of their journey

4.3. An action over a whole period

4.3.1. My cat was sleeping from 9 to 9!

4.3.2. We were playing Ouija all night.

4.4. The period of a past continuous action can include a clock time

4.4.1. At a quarter to 10 I was still sleeping

4.5. For repeated actions which are temporary, only for a period

4.6. Past arrangement

4.7. With the continuous, always means 'very often' or 'too often'
