BLACK LIVES MATTER

1. The BLM regularly organizes protests around the killing of blacks by police, and broader issues of racial discrimination, police brutality and racial inequality in the criminal justice system in the United States. But it gained great repercussions all over the world!

2. The BLM movement expanded in 2014 after the police killings of two unarmed Black men, Eric Garner and Michael Brown. Garner died in Staten Island, New York, after a white police officer held him in a prolonged illegal choke hold, which was captured in a video taken by a bystander. Brown, a teenager, was shot and killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Large protests of these deaths in the name of Black Lives Matter captured national and international attention.

3. By combating violent behavior, creating space for black imagination and innovation and focusing on the joy of black people, we are seeing immediate improvements in our lives.

The movement's website states: "In a world where black life is systematically and deliberately disappeared, black life is a political and ideological intervention." “This is a contribution to black humanity and to society. In 2020, just minutes after a Minneapolis police officer with white arms kneeled on Floyd's neck, an unarmed black man, George Floyd, was pronounced dead, despite repeated protests that he was unable to breathe. Floyd's last few minutes of video circulated widely, generating large-scale demonstrations in cities across the United States and around the world. This tragedy affected public opinion in the United States, favoring the "Black Life Issues" movement and, at the same time, drawing attention to the racism rooted in American society.

7. BlackLivesMatter was created in 2013 to respond to the murder of Trayvon Martin. The Global Network Limited Foundation, vital to black life, is a global organization in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, whose mission is to eliminate white supremacy and establish local powers to intervene in violence against blacks, states and vigilant communities.

8. The BLM movement thereafter continued to play a prominent role in demonstrations against police brutality and racism. Notably, BLM activists protested the deaths at the hands of police or while in police custody of several other Black people, including Sandra Bland, Philando Castile, Freddie Gray, Laquan McDonald, Tamir Rice, Walter Scott, Alton Sterling, and Breonna Taylor.
