1. Ch. 1 Anthropology in a Global Age

1.1. Anthropology is the study of hte full scope if human diversity, past and present, the application of that knowledge to help people of different backgrounds better understand one another

1.2. In this chapter, it speaks about different types of fields in anthropology and also about globalization and how it has effected cultures today.

1.3. "Today vulnerable people and cultures are encountering powerful economic forces that are reshaping family, gender roles, ethnicity, sexuality, love and work patterns[...] Critics of globalization warn of dangers of homogenization and the loss of traditional local cultures as products marketed by global companies flood into local markets."(Guest 27)

2.1. Culture: A system of knowledge, beliefs, patterns of behavior, artifacts and institutions that are created, learned, shared and contested by a group of people.

2.2. "Through enculturation, over time the members of a culture develop a shared body of cultural knowledge and patterns of behavior"(Guest 37)

3. Ch. 5 Human Orgins

3.1. In this chapter in the book, it speaks on our ancient human relatives, evolution and different tactics to learn about the prehistoric life

3.2. Theory of Evolution: theory that biological adaptation sin organisms occur in response to changed in the natural environment and develop in populations over generations
