The Reader-Chapters 9 to 17 of Part 1

1. Chapter 9:Michael after being with hanna starts to have a lot of questions about marriage and happiness,then he starts to remember when he was a kid he doesn't feel bad about being with someone who may be his mother's age he feels proud of this because Michael feels like an adult with this,hanna loves when he reads books and enjoys the time they spend together.
2. Chapter 10:Michael goes to visit Hanna at the treen where he works but Hanna didn't want to meet him, he got off time and was upset by her behavior and every time Hanna and Michael fight, Michael has to admit to things he has never done.
3. Chapter 11:The relationship at one point becomes very violent over a simple mix-up to the point where Hanna breaks Michael's lip and this may be influenced by the age difference as Hanna may believe that Michael is too immature because of his age.
4. Chapter 12:Michael wanted to have the house just to be with Hanna, he asked her what she would like to have so he could stay home alone. She tells him some things that she wants and Michael decides to steal these things because he has no money but he wants to be with her,when they are in the house she starts to look at the house ,but what catches her attention the most are the books.
5. Chapter 13::Michael starts a new school year, he begins to describe his school and realizes that there are girls in that school, and next to him sits Sophie, a very pretty girl. Michael feels good. She says that she has always loved The Odyssey. At the end, Michael wonders if he should choose Hanna or Sophie as a character in the story but in the end he couldn't decide.
6. Chapter 14:Michael starts to think about his love with Hanna, their ritual of reading aloud, loving each other and taking a shower together is still alive. Hanna asks Michael what affectionate names he has for her and he says horse and this makes Hanna upset.In the afternoon Michael usually meets his school friends at the pool to do homework. On his birthday, he goes back to Hanna, she is in a bad mood and doesn't know that he is having a birthday and he gets angry.
7. Chapter 15:Michael talks to his friends but especially to his friend from school, Sophie. Michael hadn't told his friends about Hanna. On the way back from the pool, Sophie and Michael have to stay together because there is a thunderstorm. As they start talking. Sophie is interested to know if he is depressed about his illness. Michael explains that he is healthy, but he is not sure if he should talk to her about Hanna. He avoids Sophie and suggests talking about it another time.
8. Chapter 16:Michael says he never knows what Hanna is doing while they are not together, Hanna was under emotional pressure for a while and he never knew why. After Hanna was back to normal, they went swimming together, some time later Michael went into the pool, and she felt dizzy when she woke up she saw Hanna suddenly in the pool she had never seen her suddenly anywhere and wondered what she was doing in the pool. When he got up to go to her, he looked away briefly.
9. Chapter 17:Michael wants to visit Hanna and sits waiting for her on the stairs outside her apartment but she doesn't show up after a while he gets worried and calls the streetcar and mountain train company and learns that Hanna cancelled because she was offered training to become a streetcar driver and the carpenter in the yard tells Michael that Hanna moved out the same day.
