The Difference Between Time-lapse & Stop Motion Photography (Amirul, Ashraf, Raja Shah, Adawiyah & Safra)

1. Choosing Framing / Real time
1.1. STOP MOTION - Each photo taken for a stop motion project is one frame. If each photo takes 30 seconds, creating a five-minute 24 fps video will take 60 hours. - Most professional animations operate at 24 frames per second, but you can get away with as little as 8 frames per second.
1.2. TIME LAPSE - Two common frame rates are 24 fps and 30 fps, so 10 seconds is about ~ 240-300 frames. - If the duration is 1 hour (3600 seconds), and if 10 second video, just divide 3600 seconds / 300 frames to end up with a 12 second interval.
2. Length of Event & Editing
2.1. STOP MOTION - Slow Down and Repeat - The Process Verses the Product - Adding Sound
2.2. TIME LAPSE - Decide the length by manual calculation or by using an Intervalometer - Choose your preferred frame rate per second (fps), and then convert your shoot duration to seconds - Different time lapse interval are used for different movement speed of time lapse subjects.
3. Photo assembling and video making
3.1. STOP MOTION -The individual frames can be easily combined using a software program like Movie Studio Platinum or can use Adobe Premiere, Stop Motion Animation Apps
3.2. TIME LAPSE -Time-lapse capture an image at a particular time interval, at the point of post-production. -The speed-time shows what happens for a long time, 8 hours video viewed within 2 minutes.
4. Choosing Subject & Props
4.1. STOP MOTION - Modelling Clay - Paper Cut-Out - Silhouettes - Mix Media
4.2. TIME LAPSE - Cloudscapes and celestial motion - Plants growing and flowers opening - Fruit rotting - Evolution of a construction project - People in the city
5. Time Consuming From Until End
5.1. STOP MOTION - Stop motion can be extremely time-consuming: a video shot on a video camera usually runs at 24 fps (frames per second).
5.2. TIME LAPSE - If a time-lapse video that runs at 30fps with a duration of 30 seconds, setting a shooting interval of eight seconds will give you an event duration of 2 hours.
