1.1. Visual

1.1.1. Children will create their favorite landmark (or something they remember seeing in Illinois) inside the silhouette of the state of Illinois. This will be cut out and hung in the hallway.

2. Social studies

2.1. Geography

2.1.1. Children will make simple vin-diagrams, comparing rural areas to city areas in Illinois. This will be done using provided books/magazines and provided materials.

3. Technology

3.1.1. English Bus-Numbers (1st Grade); Children count coins to help Sanoma ride the bus (similar to Chicago busses)

4. Science

4.1. Earth

4.2. Children will be provided with a variety of rocks and minerals found in Illinois. They will also be provided with paper and pencil. Their job is to separate the items into categories and draw each rock they observe under its correct category. Each category must be labeled (ex. gray rocks, round rocks, etc.)

5. Math

5.1. Data & analysis

5.2. Children will use cut outs of houses, apartments, cars and trains to represent how many of one item represents another. For example, five house measure up to one apartment. Theses items can be used to create a graph and glued to paper. (Chicago)
