2. Upper course

2.1. begins in highlands with excessive relief rainfall due to pynlimon hills

2.2. forms a v shaped valley as the river size and power cuts down into the landscape due to vertical erosion

2.2.1. water in valley is fast flowing and has a high carrying capacity so erosion increases

2.2.1.1. causes abrasion as attitratoin as sediment is carried by traction and saltation

2.3. rocks are large

2.4. river features include rapids and waterfalls near Avon forrest

3. middle course

3.1. River wider and deeper due to inc in lateral erosion

3.2. gradient is flatter as severn flows into shropshire

3.3. greater erosion of riverbank as their is an inc in velocity

3.4. load size decreases with finer material due to lots of erosion

3.5. meanders and oxbow lakes are formed
