1. A vision of K-12 students today
1.1. Students spend 16 and a half hours watching TV a week .
1.2. Students will spend 5 and a half hours on the computer.
1.3. Students will spend 2 hours reading a book.
1.4. At least once a week 14% of teachers let students create something new with technology 63% never do.
2. Shifts happens
2.1. In 10 years it is predicted that the number one English speaking country in the world will be China.
2.2. Today's learners will have 10 to 14 jobs by their 38th birthday.
2.3. Many of today's college majors didn't exist 10 years ago.
2.4. Today's 21 year old's have sent or received 250,000 emails or instant messages.
3. Looking backward, thinking forward
3.1. Episcope, early projector.
3.2. Visual Instruction Movement, administrators become interested in the use of media, such as slides and motion pictures, to improve instruction.
3.3. 1933 NEA survey reports 52% of schools are using silent films and 3% are using sound films.

4. 3 phases of educational technology
4.1. Phase 1, presentation is given to the class room by the teacher using technology.
4.2. Replaces white board, chalk board, and over head.
4.3. Phase 2, text books are replaced with electronic forms of information.
4.4. Phase 3, changes way teachers teach. Turns content into 21st century skills.
