
1. Adverbs are words that usually modify verbs. They may also modify adjectives, other adverbs, phrases, or even entire sentences.
1.1. An adverb answers the question when?, where?, how?, how much?, how long?, or how often?
1.1.1. Most adverbs are formed by adding -ly to an adjective. If the adjective already ends in -y, the -y usually changes to -i.
1.1.1.1. There are, however, many common adverbs that do not end in -ly, such as again, also, just, never, often, soon, today, too, very, and well.
2. Adverbs have the following four types:
2.1. Adverbs of Manner
2.1.1. These adverbs describe the manner,in which, an action occurs or the way of the occurence of an action.
2.1.1.1. Positive Manner
2.1.1.1.1. Beautifully, boldly, bravely, calmly, carefully, neatly, well, eagerly, equally, elegantly, faithfully, frankly, justly,openly, gradly, promptly, joyously, cheerfully...
2.1.1.2. Negative Manner
2.1.1.2.1. Angrily, anxiously, blindly, cruelly, greedly, folishly, hastily, tensely, recklessly, shyly, suspiciously, rudely, inadequately, irritably, carelessly, stupidly, nervously...
2.1.1.3. Positive/Negative Manner
2.1.1.3.1. Accidentally, busily, daringly, deliberately, hurriedly, inquisitively, loosely, regularly, swiftly, sleepily, so, speedily, suddenly, tightly, fast...
2.2. Adverbs of Place
2.2.1. These advers give information about the place of occurence of an action.
2.2.1.1. Abroad, along, away, back, downstairs, east, far, indoors, nearby, off, overseas, somewhere, underground, there, up...
2.2.1.1.1. Exmples: -He went somewhere in the city to forget about her. -My friend's home is nearby the university.
2.3. Adverbs of Time
2.3.1. These adverbs state the time of occurence of the action. It may give a sharp or rough idea about the time of an action.
2.3.1.1. Already, always, annually, constantly, eventually, ever, formerly, fortnightly, hourly, infrequently, lately, not until, normally...
2.3.1.1.1. Examples: -You will always repent if you rely on others. Lately, I have been thinking I want you to be happy.
2.4. Adverbs of Frequency
2.4.1. These adverbs express the frequency of occurence of an action. It tells how often (how many times) an action occurs.
2.4.1.1. Eventually, regularly, infrequently, nightly, yearly, soon, queaterly, always, later, normally, sometimes, constanly, then, rarely, seldom, never, often...
2.4.1.1.1. Examples: He rarely misses her. I never forget a face.
