DIABETIC FOOT CARE

1. Inspect feet daily
2. Wash Feet daily with warm water & mild soap
3. Pat feet dry, especially between toes
4. Use mild foot powder (powder with cornstarch) on sweaty feet
5. Do not use commercial remedies for the removal of calluses or corns
6. Consult a podiatrist
7. The best time to perform nail care is after a bath/shower
8. Separate overlapping toes with cotton or lamb’s wool
9. Avoid open-toe, open-heel shoes
10. Leather shoes are preferred to plastic ones
11. Wear shoes that fit correctly
12. Wear slippers with soles
13. Do not go barefoot
14. Shake out shoes before putting them on
15. Wear clean, absorbent socks or stockings that are made of cotton or wool and have not been mended
