DIABETIC FOOT CARE

1. Pat feet dry, especially between toes
2. Use mild foot powder (powder with cornstarch) on sweaty feet
3. Do not use commercial remedies for the removal of calluses or corns
4. The best time to perform nail care is after a bath/shower
5. Avoid open-toe, open-heel shoes
6. Wear shoes that fit correctly
7. Do not go barefoot
8. Wear clean, absorbent socks or stockings that are made of cotton or wool and have not been mended
9. Inspect feet daily
10. Wash Feet daily with warm water & mild soap
11. Consult a podiatrist
12. Separate overlapping toes with cotton or lamb’s wool
13. Leather shoes are preferred to plastic ones
14. Wear slippers with soles
15. Shake out shoes before putting them on
