'The problems associated with an aging population are exaggerated.' What is your view?
by Gerald Goh
1. Problems associate with ageing population
1.1. Economic output of a country may drop because the country's supplies or resources are used on the ageing population,to take care of their needs.
1.2. The dependency ratio – the number of people of the population either too young or too old to work divided by the number of workers will decline. The younger working generation will feel the prssure of work to provide for the ageing population in their respective population.
1.3. To get even more money, the retirement age is being raised from 65 to 70. Which means fewer pensions are being paid for, and more people are being taxed.
1.4. Government have to provide more pensions. Government have to provide more care-homes.
2. Population ageing occurs when the median age of a country or region rises. This happens because of rising life expectancy or declining birth rates.

4. My Views:
4.1. To a large extent,i do agree. It is true to say that the problems are not exagerrated as seen from the recent economy progress of a country. In Singapore for example, more and more resources are being used to build houses for the old folks and the government is increasing the budget to train caretakers or even hire social workers.
5. Main causes of ageing population
5.1. Factors such as a relatively low birth rate and high-quality health care, which helps people live longer, contribute to the ageing population.
5.2. People are more likely to settle down at a later age, having already settled into their career. So have families later in life.,meaning they have fewer children.
5.3. After the second world war, there was a baby-boom it's got to the point now, that all those babies are elderly people, and as such are creating the aging population.
