PAST TENSE

1. Negative Sentences

1.1. We use didn't (did not) to make a negative sentence in the past tense.

2. Examples of negative sentences

2.1. I didn't want to go to the dentist.

2.2. She didn't have time.

2.3. You didn't close the door.

2.4. He didn't come to my party.

2.5. They didn't study so they didn't pass the test.

2.6. We didn't sleep well last night.

3. Questions in the Past Tense

3.1. We use did to make a question in the past tense.

4. Examples in the Past Tense

4.1. The word went is used for all subjects

4.1.1. I went to the beach

4.1.2. He went to the park.

4.1.3. She went to the zoo.

4.1.4. They went to the library.

5. Regular Verbs

5.1. To change a regular verb into its past tense form, we normally add –ED to the end of the verb.

5.2. Play – Played Cook – Cooked Rain – Rained Wait – Waited

5.3. Examples of sentences using regular verbs

5.4. Last night I played my guitar loudly and the neighbors complained.

5.5. She kissed me on the cheek.

5.6. Angela watched TV all night.
