1. A pilot needs to calculate the height of the airplane. The pilot needs to control the airplane and sometimes they need to keep the plane between two heights. Ex. When the airplane wants to land the airport tower tells the pilot to keep the airplane to 2500~2700 ft because other height will have other planes and is dangerous for 2 planes in the same height so the pilot needs to keep the airplane between 2500~2700 ft. The inequality will be (airplane = a) 2500ft≤a≤2700ft.
2. Solving simple inequalities
2.1. Steps
2.1.1. 1.Find unknown isolated
2.1.2. 2. Anything+/-
2.1.3. 3.Take the opposite
2.1.4. 4.Anything x /÷
2.1.4.1. Anything directly attached multiply by the reciprocal.
2.1.5. 5. Multiply by the reciprocal
2.2. Example question
2.2.1. I call a Taxi to my home and I tell the driver I'm going to Taoyuan airport. The distance from my home to the airport is 39.9Km I only have 1000 NTD in my pocket because I'm going to Seattle so I didn't bring a lot of NTD so if the times of meter fare of the taxi is X so the total cost is 70+5X. Write and solve an inequality to find the possible values of x.
2.3. How to solve the Example question?
2.3.1. 70+5X≤1000
2.3.1.1. This is a inequalities for this question 70+5x is meter fare. And I only have 1000 so the meter fare have to be less than my money which my money only have 1000.
2.3.2. 5X≤930
2.3.2.1. The second step we have to -70 because in Taipei our meter fare is start at at 70 .
2.3.3. X≤186
2.3.3.1. Divide 5 by 930 is 186 after I paid for Taxi driver I only have 186 left. This means the most time I can take is 186 minutes.
