1. Communication and Collaboration with School Community Members
1.1. Back-to-School Night assembly with parents/caregivers to share information on the initiative
1.2. Contact local businesses and prominent community members to extend an invitation to the assembly and offer a participation opportunity in the initiative
2. Data & Stakeholders
2.1. Initial data on chronic absenteeism and overall school academic data will be shared at the Back-to-School Night
2.2. Information will also be sent home with students and posted on the school’s social media outlets
2.3. Periodic updates will be shared on social media and school newsletters
3. Budget
3.1. Costs for the professional development, student incentives, and promotional materials will be calculated
3.2. Much of the professional development can be funded by the school’s state and federal professional development budget
3.3. Community stakeholders and parents will be invited to donate and volunteer their time to support this endeavor
4. Feeder School Inclusion Plan
4.1. Contract administration of Henagar Jr. High School to share information on the attendance initiative and co-plan an assembly with students and faculty
4.2. Organize assembly at HJH to allow transferring students to hear about the initiative
5. Professional Development
5.1. Faculty training on PBIS to use as a reward system to encourage attendance
5.2. Plan ongoing pd on classroom engagement strategies
5.3. Training for staff on analyzing data to monitor the correlation between academic achievement and student attendance
6. Horizontal and Vertical Collaboration within the School
6.1. Form grade level teams to develop strategies to promote engagement strategies in effort to increase student attendance and set attendance and academic goals for the grade level.
6.2. Vertical teams will be formed to ensure seamless transition between grade levels making sure that progress in the initiative is maintained
