2. o Discovery erodes away the humanity of the individuals as many feel they have inherent possession over what they have discovered Stephano states: “I prithee now, lead the way without any moretalking. Trinculo … we will inherit here: here;bear my bottle: fellow Trinculo, we'll fill him byand by again.”
3. • Emotional Discovery- The Prospero-Caliban usurper-slave relationship instigates self-growth for Caliban.
4. • “The tempest”: suggests that the discovery that is most meaningful is that which overcomes trauma: the metaphorical “Tempest”
5. • The perspectives permitted by the island allow for the discovery of the flaws inherent in colonialism and the former system of government
6. • Negative discovery- Caliban wine: discoveries can reduce us to our stereotypes. -Alcohol convinces him that Stephano is a “brave god” and decides unconditionally to “kneel to him” This scene shows the foreign, civilized culture as decadent and manipulative.
7. • The Island – Discovery from an escape from convention broadened perspectives of structured society from which they left
8. • Caliban’s intellectual discovery allows him to become perceptive of himself and the world around him ( Language )
9. Miranda’s discovery of her love for Ferdinand allows her to become less of an egotist and permits herself to see the world from the perspective of another person.
